Oakland University Description:

Oakland University is one of Michigan's 15 public universities; the school occupies a large 1,441-acre campus in Rochester, Michigan. The university first opened its doors to students in 1959, and today it has an 18 to 1 student / faculty ratio, and students can choose from an impressive 132 baccalaureate degree programs. Preprofessional programs in business, nursing, communications and education are quite popular among undergraduates. Student life is active, and the university boasts of 170 student organizations including nine with Greek affiliations. In athletics, the Oakland Grizzlies compete in the NCAA Division I Horizon League. Popular sports include swimming, softball, basketball, soccer, and track and field. The men's basketball team has met with recent success.
